Expert Child & Educational Psychologists

Positive Minds Psychology was created by three highly skilled psychologists who obtained their professional doctorates in educational and child psychology at University College London (UCL). The team are all registered with the Health and Care Professionals Council (HCPC) and accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS). All members have successfully completed the Certificate of Competence in Educational Testing (CCET).

The team shares a wealth of experience working within educational psychology services across London. At Positive Minds Psychology we work with children and young people across a range of ages, needs and contexts. For further details, please see “What We Do”.

Dr Vanna (Ioanna) Cotzia

Vanna believes that every person, whatever the age, has a fundamental right to experience the lifelong learning process as an uninhibited progression towards self-discovery.

Vanna has experience as an Educational and Child Psychologist within a London Local Authority, and is a Certified CBT Therapist for Children & Adolescents (BPS Approved) as well as a certified EuroPsy Psychologist (EFPA). Vanna also has a passion for research and teaching Psychology and is committed to integrating theory and practice. She has experience lecturing and as an academic & personal tutor at UCL (BSc and MSc programmes), and is a lecturer at Birkbeck, University of London.

Vanna also specialises as a supervisor for school professionals and other practitioners and is a Registered Applied Psychology Practice Supervisor (RAPPS). Currently, Vanna is serving as a Reviewer on the BPS Division of Educational and Child Psychology Training Committee (DECPTC)

Dr Marianthi Papadimitriou

Dr Marianthi Papadimitriou, is a specialist child, adolescent and educational psychologist with extensive experience working with schools, children and families. She has a broad educational and training background in Child, Adolescent and Educational Psychology (DEdPsych, University College London – IOE), in Clinical Health Psychology (MSc, Middlesex University, London), in Primary Education and in Special Educational Needs and Inclusion (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki). Dr Papadimitriou brings over 26 years of experience working in both the UK and Greece, across public and private sectors, developing child and family-centred practices grounded in a holistic approach.  

Dr Papadimitriou is a certified BPS and EuroPsy Child Psychologist with a strong interest in SEN, therapeutic approaches, in-service training and research. She is an invited speaker at international conferences, including the first global intergovernmental UNESCO conference on Early Childhood Care and Education, and contributes to international working groups on data monitoring on early childhood education and child wellbeing. She is also an elected committee member of Hospital Organisation of Paedagogues in Europe (H.O.P.E.) and leads work on professional development and research supporting children with complex medical and mental health needs.

Dr Papadimitriou believes that every child is a unique individual, defined not by diagnostic labels but by their potential and possibilities. By working in partnership with parents and schools and responding to each individual child’s needs with respect and compassion, we empower them to become the fullest expression and the best possible version of who they can be/themselves.
